"The Changing of The Clocks!" :)

Happy Sunday afternoon :)

Well what a difference a week makes! Last week I was all jolly and happy and this week....well what can I tell you...I have fell out with myself nearly everyday this week! I'm putting it down to another menopausal hit...I can usually bat off the feelings into the background but not this week...its hung about like a black cloud.... although I am feeling more myself today...thank goodness!!!

Did you remember to change your clocks??? The changing of the clock ceremony started yesterday afternoon...Hubby changes all the manual ones...the digital ones do themselves...so I spent yesterday afternoon very confused...its not difficult :)

With the way my mood has been I haven't been up to a lot of crafting....I made the silly mistake of trying to make macaroons again....and failed miserably again! But I'm not going to give up...I will try again and again until I get a batch :)

As I had finished my last blanket....I was trying to plan a new project but with my head all fuddled...I just thought it best to do a simple task...how wrong could I be...I started this.....

I did the first 10 rows....and hated it! So I grumpily put it to the bottom of the work basket and sulked....and started making solid squares with the intention of making another patchwork blanket....hated those as well! So you can see I've had a very indecisive, falling out with myself week! I have fetched it back out the work basket as you can see and I'm going to carry on with it...it is very bright and cheery so hopefully it will brighten the days up :)

I still haven't decided what to do with my Stylecraft limited edition pack yet...but I have an idea brewing :)

I have also started a "more me" blanket for myself (that's two for me then!) using the newly released shade from Stylecraft - Duck Egg Blue....

Its a corner to corner blanket and I thought about putting some applique flowers and leaves....something a bit like above photo...just on the corners maybe????
So thankfully I'm back in love with my passion for crochet :)  (I never wasn't really) and that grumpy black cloud is now moving on....

A friend sent me some YouTube videos yesterday....which put a smile on my face...the Minions Singing (you cant help but smile at them) and the music video for Hot, Hot, Hot...it was an absolute favourite of mine...many moons ago I used to be landlady of a nightclub and bar and that track we used to play when we were bottling up the bar...so it brings back lovely memories :)

Ikea was my destination this morning (that's why I'm late doing this diary entry) to purchase some picture ledges....that was all....but I have come back with the ledges I wanted...a hat hook....dinner plates...matching side plates....and a mini Christmas Tree!!!! Do you find it impossible to just get what you went for in Ikea? Now I'm all about re-using furniture...buying vintage and antiques...but somehow Ikea gets me :)

This is what I wanted the ledges for anyway....we have been collecting the Vintage Railway Postcards from everywhere we go for our holidays or special days out...now they look great framed up and displayed on the ledges...

Internet meandering this week has done nothing for my quest to make Christmas wait a bit! Pinterest is full of Christmassy decoration, craft makes and ideas....hence the little tree purchased and I did buy more Christmas mugs and a box of crackers...ha ha....that's enough of that particular "C" word... :)

My word I didn't think I'd be able to write more that a couple of lines...but there you go...I can ramble on for England!

This weeks vintage photo is....

the lovely Maureen O'Hara...who sadly died yesterday aged 95...she was one of my favourites...and starred in my all time...absolute favourite Film..."The Quiet Man" and apparently of all the films she was in it was her favourite too :)

This weeks quote....

This has been very true over the past week...friends cheering me up....always look for the people to make your life a bit more of the above :)

Have a lovely week all....enjoy everything you do....xxxx

What A Great Week!

Happy Sunday All, I'm a bit late today but we didn't have any internet earlier :(

What a great week I have had...Hubby has finally had some time off work...he's been working everyday for the past 6 weeks...so its been great to have him at home...we've even managed a day out!

He was still at work at the beginning of the week so I got some time to finish off my granny square blanket....and here it is....ta dah!

I like it better now that its edged in the grey...these are not "my" colours....its a bit too bright, young and trendy for me...ha ha...but as I've been told..."you have to make things that appeal to other people not just yourself"...so words heeded and here we have it!

I have been a bit naughty and ordered more wool...I know....I have a wool mountain...but Stylecraft have released their limited edition pack and their new colours....so it just had to be done :)
I'm having a think at the moment what to make next....I'm sure I will be able to tell you what by next week...I'm having a bit of play with a pattern that's in my head at the moment...hopefully it will work...fingers crossed...

I did make a little a pumpkin....its so cute and will go along side my real pumpkin flower arrangement when I do it....

Hubby took me shopping for our day out...it has been soooo long since I wondered around the shops in town...and yes....I did buy some Christmas things....a few presents and cards...and some lovely new "bits" for the kitchen :)

New measuring spoons, chicken egg cups and a squirrel bowl....I love them all so much...they are just so cute and pretty :)))) (very happy face)

I also got a new scarf...its so soft and warm and cuddly....I even found Puppy Dog nuzzling in it yesterday! The cheek of it....I haven't worn it yet!

Just looking at what I have to write in the diary this week...I have had a very productive time...yesterday I finished printing and framing the family photos and I have now finished my wall...

I had limited space...so had to choose the photos carefully...but I love it....I had wanted to have a tree behind them and do it more like a family tree wall....I found one that I really liked...and it was only from Ikea...I think I'm still going to get it and save it....I so want to move house....in the not too distant future...and hopefully I will have a bigger wall....so I can put my tree on the wall and arrange these photos and add more....but for now I'm happy and it looks great :)

I've also made some Santa's Magic Keys...ready to go to little ones...and adults...who still believe in Santa (I do!!)....who don't have chimneys...he can use the magic key to get in and leave your pressies :)

It dawned on me this week...that I haven't done any baking for ages...its watching Great British Bake Off...I just want to bake everything...I thought I would give Macaroons (or Macrons...what ever the fancy name for them is)  a go....oh dear...I'm hopeless...the first batch all ended up in the bin...but I will plod on and try, try again.....there's just so many different recipe methods....if any of you have a full proof recipe I'd love to have it.... :)

My mom gave me the old recipe book that we have had for years....well I know its proper vintage...as we've had it longer than I've been on the earth... ha ha...its lovely to have this keepsake...I don't remember my nan using it...as when I baked with her...there was no recipe and no weighing of ingredients either....all done by eye...how wonderful to be able to bake like that :)

Its just so lovely and worn...but it will be kept safe...I wont be leaving it lying around in the kitchen...it will be safely tucked into the book case...

My internet trawling this week threw up this little beauty....

Picture from House of Florrie

ticks (see what I did then...) all my boxes...art deco inspired and look...it has Florrie on the dial....love it....

So if Santa is ready this post....please can I have one of these? This is the link to save you time....Florrie Watch ... (pretty please)

I have been trying to be good this week...not too much wine...no chocolate...well...I failed! Life's too short...I love wine and I love chocolate....then I saw this picture...it made me laugh...

I don't know about the "at times" I think mine looks like this every day...I bet my guardian angel despairs a lot!......I do have one more confession....I'm almost too embarrassed to share this...but I have watched Christmas Films this week too! My excuse is I love Christmas so much and when I found out Christmas 24 channel was already on....and I didn't have to wait until November...well it all got too much and I had to give in.... :)

Well I'm off to do my domestic goddess bit and deal with Sunday lunch...I'll leave you with the usual endings....vintage photo....

Magic Roundabout....its 50 today....so it qualifies as vintage....I used to love this...I used to sit and watch it every tea time....

And for this weeks quote.....

Something we must try and do....its part of Reiki....live in the moment and let things evolve....

See you all next Sunday....have a lovely week...just try it even for a day....just live in the moment see what's around you....enjoy everything you do..xxxxxxxx

Thoughts of Family....

Morning....

Hope your Sunday is sunny....its almost sunny here :)

Well I cant believe how quick this week has gone....I have been working on my latest granny square blanket...all the squares are almost complete...I have the last two rounds to do on six of the squares then it will be joining together time...

I think joining with the grey will mute the colours down a little as its very bright!

A lot of the spare time this week has been taken up with copying, editing and printing photos for the family wall I want to do...

In my "dream world home" I would love it to look something like this....

The reality wont be anything as impressive as this...but I will love it all the same :) Its been so much fun to do...the oldest photo we have is of my great grandfather who was born around the 1850's-1860's...and lots of photos of my Nan...she was born in the 1890's and died in 1971...when you think about it....she had seen so many changes in her lifetime....things we take for granted now but must have been amazing at the time....electricity in the home, hot running water, telephones, television, even a man on the moon!

My mind has also been wondering...to...dare I say it....Christmas!  There's only a few weekends to go now...and normally I've usually done all the present shopping by now...but this year I have decided to wait a bit longer...just to try and enjoy the process a bit more...and the lead up to Christmas....I love buying presents :) I do have to admit I have got some little pressies already :)

But before Christmas we have Halloween...we usually have a carved pumpkin for decoration....but as there are no children in our house anymore...I'm going to do a pumpkin floral arrangement....something like this....

Ha ha....there I go again...living in that "dream world home"! I shall be having a go....watch this space when it gets nearer the time...ha ha

This week has also seen a major investment in pillows....yes pillows...£60! That to me is a major investment...as I'm a saver not a spender...but when we were on holiday I slept on feather pillows and they were soooo comfy....and as I have trouble sleeping....I purchased new pillows for us....and I have to say...they are wonderful! And they other good thing is....they came in zipper bags...which have also been put to good use....they are just the perfect thing for stashing wool....keeps those lovely balls of yarn clean and tidy :)

Perfect! The only problem is...Hubby can now see just how much stash I have!

Well what a ramble about it has been this week...sorry if it all seems a bit random but its been that kinda week :)

The vintage photo this week...is because of my bedroom linen visit this week....who remembers these...we certainly had several of these :)

candlewick bedspreads (makes you feel all nostalgic)....  :)

And this weeks quote...is to all you crafters out there....I had a little "wobble" this week and thought to myself..."why am I doing all this stuff...its a waste of time"... but then I gave myself a slap and pulled myself together and told myself...its because you love doing it! :)

Have a great week...enjoy everything you do xxxxxx

Misty Mornings :)

Morning....

I'm a day late this week....yesterday I felt very melancholy and didn't feel able to write a happy post....I would have been a bit moany and that's just no fun to read...but today I feel a bit more up beat...so here we go

We have had some beautiful weather over the past few weeks....these photos were taken on Saturday very early morning....you could already see it was going to be a gorgeous day...the sky was already so blue....

don't you just love a misty morning....I really enjoyed that mornings walk...so quiet...it was like a little bit of therapy :)

I have finished the latest Patchwork Blanket....its all washed and packed in its little gift bag...all it needs now is a new owner to go off to... ;)

Sorry about the creases on the sheet in the photos...its one of those Non-Iron ones....ha ha....it didn't look that bad in the flesh....

On my Pinterest ponderings this week I came across these beautiful enamel canisters and bowls...I am in love with them....

but they are from a USA site....Mackenzie-childs.com they do some absolutely gorgeous stuff but not in this country....well unless anyone knows differently....otherwise they will have to go on my "would love to have these" list...which is very long....ha ha

Whilst at my parents house this week, Mom and me decided to go through all the old photos...we do from time to time...and I am about to embark on making a family photo wall so wanted to take copies of some of them...its lovely looking back at my Nan (the original Florrie May)....this one never fails to raise a smile :)

I have all the photos copied now....so I will keep you posted as to my progress....

~

going back to Pinterest...

I also came across a photo of some bunting to make with old crochet doily's....you can buy these so cheaply at charity shops and antique fairs....I will be looking out for some and making this....its so vintage and pretty...

I have been working on my new granny square blanket....and I'm liking the colour scheme....a bit of a contemporary feel especially so when edged in the grey I think....

My exciting buy this week...well exciting for me anyway....is my new basket....I bought it on Saturday....I planned to use it for shopping...now that the carrier bags are being charged for...I do take my own bags anyway but I thought this would add to those....but its too nice for shopping...so has become my new crochet basket...

I love it!!!!

Its so big and roomy....purchased from Dunelm Mill at the bargain price of £7.99...I may even get another for the shopping   :)

Well...I'm off to do some ironing :( so I will leave you with this weeks vintage photo....

I remember these so well...I never got to eat the Jelly ones....they were (and still would be!) my Dads favourites....it takes me back....

This weeks quote...is for all my friends....I haven't been out and about for a while and I miss them...love you all...

Well until next week...have a great one and enjoy everything you do xxxx
